Airline Miles Donations
Last year the Foundation purchased nearly 1,000 flights for wish children and their families - many of those tickets were for international travel. With almost 75% of all wishes involving air travel, it is a major expense.
One of the critical ways of reducing this expense is through donated airline miles. Most major carriers allow frequent fliers to donate their miles to Make-A-Wish.* All donated miles are pooled by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America (our national office) and then distributed to individual chapters.
Unfortunately individual Make-A-Wish chapters are not provided donor information by our national office. Therefore we are unable to thank you directly for your gift. Please know that this is an extremely important gift to our chapter as we send our wish children to locations around the world.
Participating airlines include: AirTran, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways. Each airline has specific guidelines, so please click here for more information.
*The IRS recognizes award points and miles as a gift or an award from the corporation to the individual. Therefore, points and frequent flier miles donated to charity are not considered tax deductible.
